The Sacred Atelier
Behind Every Symbol,
An Intention
The Sacred Atelier is where the designs take shape: symbols from sacred geometry and the Maya world, redrawn with precision, then printed only to order.
Sacred Symbols
The Map of the Cosmos
The Flower of Life
Overlapping circles of equal radius, each centred on the outline of its neighbours. Ancient examples exist, notably at the Temple of Osiris in Abydos, Egypt.
Metatron's Cube
Thirteen circles, each joined to the others by straight lines. Flat projections of several Platonic solids can be found in it. It is named after the archangel Metatron of Jewish tradition.
The Sri Yantra
Nine interlaced triangles, four pointing up and five pointing down, forming 43 smaller triangles. A central meditation diagram in Hindu tradition.
The Fibonacci Spiral
1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13… Each number is the sum of the two before it, and the ratio between neighbours approaches the golden ratio. It shows up in the arrangement of sunflower seeds.
Our Process
From Symbol to Object
Choosing the Symbol
Each design starts from an existing symbol, from sacred geometry or the Maya calendar, whose construction and meaning are checked before drawing.
The Geometric Drawing
The design is built as a vector drawing: exact circles, angles and proportions, with no approximation, sharp at any size.
Fine-Tuning
Colours, line weight, placement: each design is adjusted to the product it goes on, t-shirt, mug or wall art.
Print on Demand
Each piece is made only when ordered, by Gelato's network of partner printers. No stock, so no unsold goods.
The Proportions
Geometry by the Numbers
The golden ratio
The proportion the Fibonacci sequence tends toward.
The circles of the Flower of Life
In its most common form, all of equal radius.
The triangles of the Sri Yantra
Formed by the interlacing of 9 large triangles.
